More than 2.000 people from all around the world participated in the summit « Climate Chance » which took place in Nantes, France, from September 26th to 28th 2016, www.climatechance2016.com

That is the annual international meeting of non-state actors engaged in the fight against climate change. The summit’s goal was to establish a large-scale involvement of local actors, with emphasis on the role of cities.Retour ligne automatique.

Our Alliance has been present with a group of over 35 members, key partners, colleagues and new allies, who contributed to the summit as speakers and facilitators in several workshops. We have co-organized nine workshops on education, ethics, law, social economy, agriculture, and the involvement of civil society.Retour ligne automatique.

We have organized our contributions in Nantes in partnership with the International network « Taking Responsibility Seriously » of the Collège de France, the Nantes Institute for Advanced Study and Pierre Calame, founding member of the Alliance for a Responsible World, Plural and solidarity.

The gathering dynamics of the summit « Climate Chance » was important because it provided an opportunity to deepen the debate within our Alliance and to initiate joint projects with external partners.

A first analysis of the results of Nantes summit shows the significant involvement of non-governmental actors in climate change questions, which gives a higher weight to the ambitious goal of transitioning to 1.5 degrees.Retour ligne automatique

We also appreciate the fact that the highlighting of the value of responsibility and the unequivocally recognized importance of the issue of accountability, are matched with concrete actions in the field.
