Charter of Seniors’ Ethics and Responsibilities to Climate
Presentation during the workshop ‘Climate and ethics: the meaning of stakeholders’ commitment, at the summit ‘ Climate Chance ', Nantes, France, 26-28 September 2016
Pierre Caro, September 2016
The initiative of Ms Johanna Roland, Mayor of Nantes, to hold the international Climate Chance meeting in Nantes, 26 to 28 September 2016, raised the interest of Pierre Caro, President of the organisation A6, who proposed to the organisation’s members to work out a ‘Charter of Seniors’ Ethics and Responsibilities to Climate’.
This work was carried out at the Gérontopole Pays de Loire (seniors centre in the Loire country) in Nantes, our partner, where for several years the organisation A6 has been developing a citizens work on ‘planning retirement and managing ageing in a global society where the population is constantly growing in numbers and in age’. Before this initiative, no climate meeting had ever broached the role and place of seniors with respect to climate.
